Cameron’s Iron and Bone Knife
Cameron Hall chose this knife as his object. From the museums MODES record Cameron was able to discover what the knife was made from and that it was found at Brough, which is 5 miles north of Newark. During the Roman period it was known as Crococalana and grew up around a fort established in the first century AD. During the visit to the British Museum Cameron saw one other similar knife, shown below.
Seeing a knife of this sort has made Cameron realise that although they may have lived here nearly 2,000 years ago the Romans were using the same sort of tools and implements to prepare food and eat with that we use today.
