Talking Objects British Museum
Talking Objects is a project that asks young people to investigate British Museum objects by talking to curators, handling real objects, debating relevant issues and using drama, music, dance and visual arts to expand ideas about the significance of these objects for us today.
In the past groups have looked at objects from the far corners of the collection, starting with the Rosetta Stone, the Throne of Weapons, The Great Wave print and the Jade Terrapin.
Talking Objects is soon to become a nationwide project and over the next three years will be delivered through the People & Place partnership programme. As demonstrated at the British Museum, the national Talking Objects project will aim to encourage greater numbers of young people across the UK to engage with objects from partner institutions‘ diverse collections.
